Thanksgiving
October 13. Yesterday, my boys and I prayed for our community, as we do every day; in particular, as it was Thanksgiving. Thank you for your gift of company in my journey.
My older son and I will leave on Monday, October 19th after his classes, to Windsor, ON, for the procedure. We will be back on the 20th, late evening, after surgery. We will also be at the Milton Eye Surgeons clinic on the 21st in the morning for the first follow up consultation.
I have almost completely lost my vision in my right eye and the extra effort that of my brain to make sense of images gives me a constant headache. But, it is all an experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have Dr. Lei perform a technological miracle on my eyes. May God guide his hands and bless him and his staff.Thank you for what you have done for us.
In addition to my vision, our community has taught my boys about prayer, hope, charity, and community. I am looking forward to the procedure. I learned to ask my doctors, "so, what are we going to do now?", after results show that there is something that needs their expertise. Consultations used to be scary, lonely, stressful times when this whole journey started. I emphasized lonely because I have been mostly alone all these years in waiting rooms, but I learned to reach out, have my sons accompany me, share with friends what I am living. As a result of this sharing, my friend Rosario from our church community showed me that I am part of a caring community, as she spread the word about my surgery.
Thank you to all of you for being so caring for our community members. I hope that you had a happy Thanksgiving Day and that you were the recipient of many prayers of thanks.
